What is meter verification?
Meter verification gives you confidence in the performance of your flow meter by comparing it with another instrument of known performance installed temporarily into the system.
Why verification?
In the real world there are often reasons why a meter cannot be calibrated. Perhaps the operation cannot be suspended to remove the meter, or the piping arrangement does not permit the temporary connection of a reference device such as a prover or master meter.
In some instances, the size of the meter or the flow rate may be too great for the available fixed or mobile calibration facilities.
In some instances, the size of the meter or the flow rate may be too great for the available fixed or mobile calibration facilities.
If calibration is not feasible, verification is the best alternative – far better than doing nothing. Whilst the reference device does not have a traceable calibration certificate, careful selection and installation of the appropriate technology will provide you with confidence that your meter is performing correctly.
Our verification capability
ACC utilise clamp-on ultrasonic flow meters from a leading developer of this technology.Suitable for gas and liquid applications in both safe and hazardous areas, the clamp-on meter can be installed quickly and safely without the need to disrupt the operation or modify the existing pipe work. Your process remains undisturbed throughout the verification process. Key operational parameters include:
- Pipe diameters from x to y mm diameter
- Pipe wall thickness up to x mm
- Accuracy of ±1.0% when installed with 10D upstream and 5D downstream straight lengths
- Maximum fluid velocity 30 m/s
- Maximum operating temperature x °C
- All types of liquid and gases
